How to answer “braces cost” enquiries and book more cases

Patients ask about price before anything else. Here is how your front desk can answer braces cost questions with a clear range and turn them into booked consultations.

By the Kren Agency team ·

When someone asks about braces cost in Nigeria, your front desk should reply the same day with your price range, what moves a patient up or down that range, and two consultation times. A bare number, or “come in and we’ll see”, usually ends the chat. A clear range plus an easy next step turns a price question into a booked consultation.

Why do patients ask about braces cost in Nigeria first?

Braces are a big, planned spend. Many adults pay from their own pocket, and many are paying for a child. Before they give up a morning for a visit, they want to know the treatment is within reach.

So the first message is almost always “How much for braces?”. It reads like a price check. It also tells the patient whether this clinic answers straight and knows its work.

Patients often send the same question to several clinics at once. The clinic that replies first, clearly and kindly, gets the consultation.

Where does the braces enquiry go wrong?

Many braces enquiries are lost in the first reply. Watch for these four habits:

  • One flat number. The patient compares it with a cheaper quote elsewhere and leaves.
  • No number at all. “It depends, come in” sounds like you are hiding something.
  • A slow reply. By the next day, another clinic has already offered a time.
  • No next step. The patient says “OK, thanks” and the chat goes quiet.

The reply decides whether the patient comes in.

How should your team reply to “How much for braces?”

Agree the wording once, so every person on the front desk answers the same way.

  1. Reply fast. Same day during opening hours, in the channel the patient used: call, DM, chat or web form.
  2. Give your range. Use the range your orthodontist signs off, written as [your range]. A range is honest because the final fee is set after assessment.
  3. Say what moves the price. Keep it to one line. Type of braces, how complex the case is, and how long treatment runs.
  4. Invite them to a consultation. Explain that the exact fee comes after the dentist has assessed their teeth.
  5. Offer two times. “Tuesday 10am or Thursday 2pm?” gets a yes faster than “When are you free?”.

There is a reason for that line. The American Association of Orthodontists says treatment costs are influenced by the type, complexity and duration of treatment. Patients accept a range more easily when they hear why it exists.

A reply your team can adapt

Thanks for asking. Braces at [clinic name] usually cost between [your range]. The exact fee depends on the type of braces and how much your teeth need to move, which the dentist checks at a consultation. The consultation is [your consultation fee]. Can you come on Tuesday at 10am or Thursday at 2pm?

What should the consultation make clear?

The consultation is where a price question becomes a treatment decision. Make it easy to say yes.

  • What the assessment involves. The NHS notes that an orthodontic assessment may include X-rays, photographs or scans. Tell the patient what your own clinic does, before they arrive.
  • The total fee in writing. One figure, with what is included and what is extra.
  • How long it lasts. The same NHS page says fixed braces usually stay in place for 1 to 2 years, with a retainer afterwards.
  • How payment works. If your clinic offers instalments, explain them plainly. If it does not, say so early.

Parents often decide after a talk at home. Send the written plan the same day, so it is in front of them during that talk.

How do you follow up without chasing?

Many braces patients go quiet after the price, and again after the consultation. They are thinking it over. A short, polite follow-up brings some of them back.

  1. Two days after the price reply: “Would you still like a consultation? We have Thursday at 2pm.”
  2. The day after the consultation: resend the written plan and answer any questions.
  3. About a week later: one last check-in. If they say no, thank them and stop.

How do you keep cost conversations private?

Price talk is personal. Keep it that way.

  • Discuss fees in a private message or a call, never in public comments.
  • Keep treatment names out of reminder messages that other people may see on a phone screen.
  • Never share one patient’s quote or photos with another patient without written consent.

Which numbers show your braces enquiries are working?

Count four things each week:

  • Braces enquiries received
  • Enquiries answered the same day
  • Consultations booked
  • Treatment plans accepted

The biggest drop between two of those numbers shows you where to fix first. For the wider picture, from Google to recall, read our pillar post on dental marketing in Nigeria.

Questions clinic owners ask about braces cost in Nigeria

Should we put braces prices on our website?

That is your decision. A starting price or a range often brings more enquiries, because some patients will not call without any idea of cost. If you prefer not to, state the consultation fee and what it covers.

What if a patient says another clinic is cheaper?

Do not criticise the other clinic. Explain what your fee includes, such as review visits, adjustments and the retainer, and invite them to a consultation so they can compare properly.

Should we quote an exact fee over chat?

Give a range over chat. The exact fee depends on the assessment, so set it at the consultation and give it to the patient in writing.

Who should answer braces enquiries?

Whoever replies, they should use the wording your orthodontist has approved. Any clinical question goes to the dentist, not the front desk.
