Cosmetic surgery in Nigeria: clinic marketing that earns trust
Surgery patients book the clinic they trust. Credentials, honest process pages, consultation-first offers, photo consent and the Meta and Google ad rules.

To market cosmetic surgery in Nigeria, build trust before you ask for a booking. Show who operates and what qualifies them, explain the process honestly, sell the consultation instead of the surgery, and never push a patient with deadlines. People choosing surgery look for reasons to trust a clinic. Give them those reasons in plain sight.

Why is cosmetic surgery in Nigeria a trust decision first?
Surgery is permanent, costly and personal. A patient thinking about a tummy tuck or a nose job is weighing safety, money, time off work and privacy, often without telling family.
- They want to know who holds the scalpel.
- They compare Lagos and Abuja clinics with clinics abroad.
- They read reviews, watch videos and ask friends quietly.
- They are wary of any clinic that feels like a sales floor.
Ads and posts bring attention. Trust turns that attention into consultations. Our post on aesthetic clinic marketing in Nigeria covers the wider plan for skin and aesthetic clinics; this one is about surgery.
Put the surgeon's credentials up front
Patients should not have to dig for the most important fact on your website. Give each surgeon a short, plain profile.
- Name and role. Who operates, and who else is on the team in theatre.
- Qualifications and registration. Degrees, specialist training and current registration, stated accurately.
- Where surgery happens. Your own theatre or a partner hospital, and who looks after the patient overnight if needed.
- Procedures they perform. Only the ones they actually do.
Link each procedure page back to the surgeon. Keep every claim checkable.
Explain the process honestly
Fear of the unknown stops more bookings than price does. Walk the patient through each stage, in your surgeon's words.
- Consultation. What happens, how long it takes, and that it is where suitability is decided.
- Assessment and planning. Tests, the plan, and when risks and alternatives are discussed.
- Surgery day. Arrival, anaesthesia in general terms, and going home or staying.
- Recovery. What the first weeks usually involve and the review visits.
Write that results vary and that the surgeon confirms what is realistic for each patient. That honesty is a selling point.

Make the consultation the offer
Nobody should book surgery from an Instagram post. Every ad, page and reply should lead to one step: book a consultation.
- Make "Book a consultation" the only button on each procedure page.
- Tell people what the consultation includes and whether there is a fee.
- Offer video consultations for patients outside your city, with an in-person assessment before surgery if your surgeon requires it.
- Reply to enquiries fast, then follow up over weeks with written details the patient can reread in private.
Our post on hair transplant marketing shows a follow-up rhythm that suits long decisions.
Drop the pressure offers
Countdown discounts, "last two slots" posts and deposits demanded on the first call push the wrong patients in and scare the right ones off. Surgery deserves time to think. If you run a promotion, keep it calm, clear and free of urgency tricks.

Patient images need written consent
Before-and-after photos are powerful and sensitive. Get written consent that names where each image may appear: your website, social media, ads. Ask separately about showing the face. Let patients withdraw consent, and remove images promptly when they do.
Our post on before-and-after photo rules goes deeper on consent and editing.

Ad rules on Meta and Google
Meta and Google treat cosmetic surgery differently, so check both before any campaign.
Meta (Facebook and Instagram). Ads for cosmetic procedures or surgeries must be targeted to people aged 18 or older. Meta allows before-and-after images for general cosmetic surgery in those ads, and names procedures such as breast augmentation, abdominoplasty and rhinoplasty. It does not allow statements of inferiority about physical appearance (Meta Transparency Center: Health and Wellness).
Google Ads. Google's clickbait rules list "before and after" images that promote significant alterations to the human body as not allowed, along with imagery of severe distress, pain, fear or shock (Google Advertising Policies Help). Keep your Google ads to the procedure, the surgeon and the consultation.
Both companies update their policies, and your professional rules apply on top. Never promise a result in any ad.

Questions clinic owners ask about cosmetic surgery marketing
Should we publish prices for cosmetic surgery?
That is your clinic's decision. A "from" price can filter enquiries, but the final figure depends on the consultation. Whatever you share, explain that the surgeon confirms the plan and price after assessment.
Can we use before-and-after photos in ads?
On Meta, current policy allows them for general cosmetic surgery in ads targeted to adults aged 18 or older. Google's clickbait rules do not allow before-and-after images promoting significant alterations to the body. Either way, you need the patient's written consent.
How do we stand out from clinics abroad?
Show what being local makes easier: in-person consultations, follow-up visits after surgery and a surgeon the patient can reach. Then make booking that first consultation simple.
Is a limited-time discount a good idea for surgery?
Urgency tactics clash with a decision this serious and can attract patients who are not ready. Calm, clear offers that lead to a consultation suit surgery better.
