Instagram ads cost in Nigeria: what clinics should expect
How Meta prices Instagram ads, what pushes a clinic's cost up, and how to judge spend by booked patients instead of clicks.
By the Kren Agency team ·
Instagram ads cost in Nigeria is whatever budget your clinic sets. Meta publishes no fixed price list: you choose a daily or lifetime budget, and an auction decides what each ad placement costs. For a clinic, the number that matters is the cost of each booked patient, and that depends on your ad and your front desk as much as on Meta.
Why is there no fixed price for Instagram ads?
Meta's page on how much it costs to advertise on Meta technologies covers Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Meta Audience Network. It says: "When you advertise on Meta, you decide how much you want to spend."
You control total spend with a budget. You manage cost per result with a bid strategy. Meta also offers two hard brakes:
- Campaign spending limit. A maximum for one campaign.
- Account spending limit. A maximum across every campaign in the ad account.
A quoted "daily cost" is really someone else's budget. Your spend starts with the number you choose.

How does the auction set the price of each Instagram ad?
Meta's page about ad auctions explains that an auction runs every time there is a chance to show someone an ad. The winner is the ad with the highest total value, built from three things:
- Bid. What the advertiser is willing to pay for the result they want.
- Estimated action rates. How likely this person is to engage with or act on this ad.
- Ad quality. Judged partly from people hiding the ad, and lowered by "withholding information, sensationalised language and engagement bait".
Meta says "an ad that's more relevant to a person could win an auction against ads with higher bids." Its page on ad relevance diagnostics goes further: "Ads that are more relevant cost less and see more results."
For a clinic, that rewards plain, honest ads. Name the treatment, show the doctor, say how to book. Shouting headlines and vague teasers cost more.

Daily or lifetime budget: what will you actually spend?
Meta's page on budgets gives two choices, at campaign or ad set level:
- Daily budget. An average over the week, not a hard cap. Meta may spend up to 75% more on some days and less on others. Across a Sunday-to-Saturday week, it won't spend more than seven times your daily budget.
- Lifetime budget. The total for the whole run. Meta calls this a hard cap.
Daily suits a steady flow of enquiries. Lifetime suits a fixed window, such as a month of ads for a new service.
Meta also sets minimum budgets, which "may vary by country and objective". Ads Manager shows an alert if your budget is too low. If you use a cost per result goal, Meta advises a daily budget of at least five times that goal.

What pushes a clinic's Instagram ad cost up?
Most overspending comes from how the account is run. Meta's own help pages point to these habits:
- Editing too often. A new ad set goes through a learning phase, which usually ends after about 50 results in the week after the last significant edit. During learning, Meta says cost per result is usually higher, and big edits restart it.
- Too many ad sets. Meta warns that the delivery system learns less about each one when a small budget is split many ways.
- A budget too small for the goal. Some results are harder to get than others, so they need more budget.
- Low-quality creative. Engagement bait and sensational lines lower ad quality in the auction.
Our Meta Ads Manager walkthrough for clinics shows where these settings live. For the set-up itself, read how to run Instagram ads for your clinic.

Why does cost per booking matter more than cost per click?
Ads Manager reports cost per result: per click, message or lead. None of those is a patient.
The true Instagram ads cost in Nigeria, for any clinic, is spend per patient booked. Work it out in four steps:
- Ask every new patient how they found you. Record "Instagram ad" when that is the answer.
- Count enquiries, bookings and attended visits from the ads each week.
- Divide ad spend by bookings, then by patients who turned up.
- Compare that cost with what a new patient is worth to the clinic for that treatment.
Then look at the gap between enquiry and booking. If messages wait hours for a reply, you pay for interest and lose it. Fix the reply speed and the landing page before you raise the budget. Our post on stopping lost patients in your DMs covers the replies.

Questions clinic owners ask about Instagram ads cost
What is the minimum budget for Instagram ads in Nigeria?
Meta says minimum budgets may vary by country and objective, and it weighs things like your business type, bid strategy and currency. Ads Manager shows an alert if your budget falls below the minimum. Check there when you set up each campaign.
Do we pay per click or per view?
It depends on the objective. Meta lets you choose what you are charged for, such as link clicks, but some objectives only charge for impressions. A new ad account must also spend a small amount on impressions before it can switch.
Can Meta spend more than our budget?
On a daily budget, Meta may spend up to 75% more on some days, but never more than seven times the daily budget in a week. A lifetime budget is a hard cap. Campaign and account spending limits add a firm ceiling.
Is boosting a post cheaper than using Ads Manager?
Meta lists boosting from your Instagram profile and Ads Manager as two ways to buy ads, and in both you decide what to spend. Ads Manager gives more control over the result you pay for.
